TRAVELING NIGHT AUDITOR

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports directly to the Assistant Manager, Night Audit while working closely with Location Controllers and Assistant Location Controllers.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Relief Night Auditor supports multiple location accounting departments by compiling and summarizing each location’s daily sales. The responsibilities of the Relief Night Auditor are important in ensuring the smooth running of the location accounting departments. The Relief Night Auditor generally works in the middle of the night, without direct supervision at location.
Included among the responsibilities of the Relief Night Auditor are the following: 1. Audit all sales reports and support documentation turned in by location departments, ensuring accuracy, and correcting as necessary; 2. Post corrections to Room Charges and post other payments using the computer reservation system to ensure correct guest charges, Xanterra Credit Card postings, etc.; 3. Keypunch necessary reports into the MS Excel® spreadsheet. Complete other reports as assigned by the Location Controller; 4. Ensure that Xanterra accounting policy and procedure are followed by all departments; 5. Responsible for maintaining the security of the accounting office during the night shift; 6. Provide accurate and timely summaries of daily sales from the entire location for Xanterra’s General Accounting Office and location departments; 7. Responsible for adherence to all Xanterra confidentiality and other procedural policies; 8. Know the correct procedures for fire alarms and other emergency situations at location; 9. Work without direct supervision and handle situations as they occur at night; 10. Maintain a professional attitude and appearance while on duty and in dealing with both employees and guests. 11. Assist in the training of new night auditors as staff turnover occurs. 12. Travel extensively throughout the park, staying at various locations as necessary, to work relief night audit shifts. Must provide a reliable vehicle, for which reimbursement will be made at the current federally set mileage rate. 13. Perform duties outside the job classification, as assigned by management. SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE: 1. Knowledge of the night audit at multiple locations preferred. 2. Knowledge of accounting procedures preferred. 3. Knowledge of front desk procedures preferred. 4. Ability to work quickly and accurately. 5. Knowledge of Company policy, particularly accounting policy, preferred. 6. Operation of 10 key calculator by touch. 7. Time management skills. 8. Organizational skills. 9. Strong communication skills. 10. Basic knowledge of computers. 11. Ability to follow written and verbal instruction. 12. Must be willing to work nights. 13. Possess physical stamina and condition to withstand extensive walking, standing and/or sitting for up to eight hours; lifting and physical activities involved in moving and transporting supplies and equipment weighing up to fifty pounds for twenty feet. 14. Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license and proof of personal vehicle liability insurance.
AUTHORITIES: 1. To communicate to the Assistant Manager, Night Audit, or the appropriate Location Controller or Assistant Location Controller any problems concerning the security of Company assets. 2. To communicate to the Assistant Manager, Night Audit, or the appropriate Location Controller or Assistant Location Controller any problems or suggestions concerning accounting procedures. 3. To suggest improvements or repairs of software, hardware, or accounting procedures.
