SEAMSTRESS/UNIFORM CLERK

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Uniform Inventory Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary responsibilities of the Seamstress/Uniform Clerk are to make repairs on uniforms and clothing and to issue and receive uniforms. Included among the responsibilities are the following:
1. Issue correct uniforms to employees and complete the needed paper work. 2. Inspect, accurately size, and return cleaned uniforms to the hanging racks. 3. Repair damaged clothing and uniforms. Includes hand and machine sewing, replacement of buttons and zippers, and other repairs as needed. 4. Safe operation of sewing machines, steam and hothead presses, hand irons and sewing machines. 5. Proper documentation of money received for laundry service. 6. Fill and deliver orders to the Shipping clerk which are to be included with the linen delivery. 7. Assist in the August and November Uniform Inventories.
8. Assist in Laundry Services Plant, or other areas of the laundry as assigned by Uniform Inventory Manager or Management. 9. Maintain a clean, organized work area. 10. Perform special projects as assigned.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: 1. Ability to learn quickly and follow instructions accurately. 2. Communication skills. 3. Organizational skills. 4. Basic sewing and clothing repair skills. 5. Mechanical ability. 6. Knowledge of general work safety practices and personal protective equipment.
