OPERATOR SCENIC CRUISE

Available Positions: 4      Year Round Positions: No      Seasonal Positions: Yes

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Marina Manager or Assistant Marina Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conducts scheduled cruises aboard tour boats.
2. Is responsible for the safety of his passengers and crew.
3. Provides commentary regarding geological, natural and human history of Yellowstone Lake and vicinity.
4. Answers visitors' questions.
5. Acts as host aboard cruise boat, maintains order without friction.
6. Supervises collection of tickets and regulates passenger loads according to NPS rules.
7. Provides mandated safety and lifesaving information to passengers.
8. Maintains cleanliness of boat and reports malfunctions to management.
9. Is always neat, clean and well groomed.
10. Maintains radio contact with shore stations at all stages of operation.
11. Fuels the boat and secures it when it is to remain unattended.
12. Performs other tasks assigned by the Marina Manager.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
1. Basic seamanship; must pass written and practical examinations.
2. Knowledge of commentary material and history of Yellowstone Park.
3. Must have public speaking skills.
4. Supervision skills - Passengers and crew.
5. Knowledge of fuels and procedures for use of marine band radio.
6. Knowledge of maintenance and operation of assigned equipment.
7. Knowledge of weather patterns.
8. Knowledge of safety, emergency and life-saving procedures and current CPR and first aid certification.

AUTHORITIES:
1. Makes decisions regarding operation of the vessel under way.
2. Regulates activities of passengers according to Company rules to maintain safety and comfort.
