RETAIL SALES ASSOCIATE

REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES: Reports to the Gift Shop Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Handle the sale of retail purchases in the gift shop.
2. Perform cashiering duties properly, recording the sales in the register accurately and following correct account procedures.
3. Assist whenever necessary in keeping the sales floor clean and merchandise well stocked. This includes sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing, scrubbing, mopping and trash removal.
4. Assist the Gift Shop Manager with inventory control, ordering, receiving and merchandise display.
5. Maintain effective cooperation with Gift Shop Manager and other co-workers.
6. Be as helpful as possible to Yellowstone Park.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
1. Able to operate a cash register, handle cash accurately and assist in maintaining proper sales records; including understanding night reports.
2. Should be able to stand for a minimal eight hour shift and frequently lift and carry cartons weighing up to fifty pounds.
3. Demonstrate a basic understanding of Gift Shop procedures by successfully completing the Gift Shop Teaming program.
4. Able to function with flexibility and courteous behavior in a high traffic season retail operation.
5. Acquire and demonstrate a basic knowledge of product information when used as part of a professional sales approach.
6. Able to work with a minimum of supervision; maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
7. Show an awareness of inventory control through efficient management of assigned merchandise sections, with attention to pilferage protection.
